Another war starts before the last one even ended. A lot of people trying to take a shot at Ravens, but we are still standing, still fighting, and still loving every minute of it.

Just want to say thank you to all of our friends out there who have been supporting us (even if its just letting me fill the inbox to bounce around ideas)! you know who you are!

Ravens of the Shore (RoS) is just over 1 year old now with 17 member and ranked #20! We are very active and have fought in 8 wars in the past year. It has been a great ride so far and we are looking forward to what the future holds for this alliance. We are always seeking more member who are highly active and don't mind getting into some skirmishes. No war experience necessary - We will train!

Also, you can feel good about joining RoS because we are a truly altruistic organization. We believe in taking from the rich and putting resources to use so that they feel needed!

RoS has been doing some reorganizing and policy review and I figured it is high time to give you all a little more detailed information about Ravens of the Shore.

General Information:
Ravens of the Shore (RoS) is, at its core, a military alliance. What I mean by that is we created the alliance to allow players an opportunity to enjoy the military aspects of the game. In contrast to some other alliances, we choose not to stifles our members' ability to enjoy all parts of the game. This is why we will not sign peace treaties or MDPs because we want the alliance to remain flexible and able to react appropriately under any circumstances.

However, this does not mean that all players are required to be hyper aggressive. Every member is free to choose his own general play style, whether it is mainly building, pillaging, trading, or a healthy combination. The primary goal for us is that every member has fun and each player should achieve that however they can so long as they are willing to participate in alliance conflicts when they arise. We simply believe that to have fun in this game, we cannot exclude the military aspects of the game.

With that said, we do ask our players to take the time to learn about and understand the Ikariam combat system. As an alliance, we have seen combat in every version since our creation. There are plenty of members willing to discuss different strategies and theories about the combat system. You will also find alliance guides and tips to learn more about combat.

Ravens of the Shore Governance:

Alliance decisions are made democratically and all members have an equal voice. Of course the alliance has officers, but there is a lot of room for members to gain leadership opportunities. Also, despite who holds the officer positions, they are not rulers of the alliance. Their duty to the alliance is to facilitate the accomplishment of alliance goals as dictated by the members and to ensure that all members have a voice in alliance decisions.

Recruitment:
RoS does not have any size limitations on joining. We accept all players as long as they are active, willing to learn, and are dedicated to assisting the alliance in achieving its goals. Whether you are a new player or a veteran looking for a new home, we will find a place for you in the alliance. If you are a very new player, you will be coupled up with a mentor who will monitor and assist in the development of your empire until you reach a certain point.

To be clear, activity doesn't just mean logging into the game. Activity also means taking part in the alliance community by reading and responding to circulars, taking part in chat, and voicing your opinions on the forum. Members that are inactive without good reason will be removed from the alliance.

If you are interested in joining, please do not simply send us an empty application. We want to know a little about you before deciding on the application. Please include some general information about yourself and your history in Ikariam. For example, you might include your total score, general location on the map, general playing style, what other servers you play on, what alliances you were a member of in the past, and what about RoS interests you.

I hope this answers some questions for you all and I hope you will decide to join our community.

More than a year in the making, I like to think that RoS is pretty well known as an alliance. However, I sometimes get asked about the type of members that make up the group and why we game together.

Who are these ravens?

Unlike some alliance in Ikariam, RoS is not really made up of RL friends. While some of us might meet out there in reality, our bonds were mostly forged over the series of tubes that make up the "interwebs." Don't be mistaken though, our friendship is strong and we are probably closer than you are to most of your "Facebook friends."

For example, a hefty percentage of the senior (as in old, not rank) members came from another game that we played together for several years (though not necessarily in the same alliances). As alluded to in the Iota History Thread, a group of us collaboratively looked for something new to occupy our time when that game lost its charm (i.e. was going to hell), and this is how we arrived in Ikariam. Please don't let that discourage you from applying to the alliance though, we love to make new friends and receive new members that we meet in Iota!

I really can't say enough good things about this group of players. When you game and chat with a group of players day in and day out, you really get to know what they are all about and I can really say that all the members of RoS have been an absolute pleasure to spend time with. On the outside we might just seem like another alliance, but I am lucky to experience the truly great sense of community we have built as a group.

Don't fear, we aren't entirely leaving. We have had a lot of fun and success in Iota as a relatively small alliance, but now we are excited to try something new. We will be creating a whole new alliance with our friends, BoB and HLV, which are 2 alliances that we have gotten to know as a result of fighting wars against each other and on the same side. We found that we all just like having fun and kicking ass together, but there may still be a debate raging about the official alliance pizza type (Go deep dish!)

I hope RoS will be remembered in Iota history and I'm looking forward to creating a whole new history together with this group. Please look forward to the all new alliance, Free Radicals (RAD).

My emotions are running wild...part of me is sad, yet, another part of me is happy! Kinda like this... :circle: LOL!

Be sure to keep the wine under lock and key, I've heard rumors that the group from HLV overly consume that stuff!

I echo the words of Meranti... RoS was small but fierce and I hope it will be remembered in the iota folklore. I feel that RAD may be even more fun, even tougher, and with our collective sense of humour some crazy war declarations!

Wow. Exciting! A new top 10 alliance. I´ll be sad to see the loss of HLV, ROS, and BOB but i look forward to seeing the first RAD war. Good luck everyone in RAD.
