I agree with the need for a time to get established, and that the amount of resources donated should go up compared to the level of your town hall, but I would add one additional factor for consideration:; useage.
Since the posts in the other thread about leaches, I have come across a player (town level 18) with no donations to the lumber yard on this island (not his starting island). This player HAS donated over 200k wood to the vinyard. I can find no argument with this case. This player uses the vinyard, but has, to the best of my knowledge, never used the lumber yard on this or any of his colony islands.
I can not fault a player for not building a resource they are not tapping; especially when they ARE active in building a resource that they USE.
This is tru to a lesser extent in my own game play. While I do donate to both wood and luxury resource deposits, I donate a considerably larger amount to the resources that I use, and much less to those that I seldom, or never use due to the simple fact that pillaging gets me far more of these resources than I could produce in a much more timely fashion.
I only wish it were possible to directly donate wood towards the upgrade of resources on other islands so that my military customers could be a little more productive. :poke:
